The question

How do we understand the issue of divine decree (qadar) through the hadith: "Work, for everyone will be facilitated for what they were created for," and can we go against what we were created for by our choice, and what is the secret of divine decree in that we do not know how we were created and given choice, and He (Allah) knows what we will choose?

The answer

The meaning of the "everyone is facilitated for what he was created for" is that Allah has decreed the destinies of things and the fate of creation, and this does not contradict striving. Every person is facilitated to do what Allah has written for him. The action is decreed, and the doer's choice of the action and his performance of it are also decreed. Allah did not admit anyone into Paradise or Hell by compulsion, but rather by His prior knowledge of who would be among the people of bliss and who would be among the people of misery, based on their deeds.

Therefore, Allah's saying: ﴿So as for he who gives and is dutiful And believes in the best [reward] We will ease him toward ease But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need And denies the best [reward] We will ease him toward difficulty﴾ means that Allah guides the people of obedience and facilitates good deeds for them, and facilitates for the people of misery their path to it. This facilitation is facilitation of enablement and assistance, not compulsion or coercion.

As for the secret of destiny, it lies in the fact that a person does not know what has been written for him, so he cannot rely on destiny and abandon work. This is from Allah's wisdom, because a person's knowledge of his destiny would lead to reliance, and this contradicts the reality of what has been written.

There is no contradiction between Allah's saying: ﴿And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me﴾ and the Hadith "everyone is facilitated for what he was created for." The saying "to worship Me" is a clarification of the divinely intended wisdom beloved by Allah, which is worship. As for the Hadith, it is a clarification of the universal, predestined wisdom from which no one departs. The obedient person obeys by Allah's grace, and the disobedient person disobeys by Allah's knowledge and decree, but he has not departed from Allah's general universal will.
