Belief in divine decree (Al-) is one of the pillars of faith. It is based on knowledge, writing, will, and creation and formation. Creation is thus encompassed within belief in divine decree. The servant has a will and choice for which he is rewarded or punished, but his will is subordinate to the will of Allah. Marriage is decreed by Allah, and a person does not know what has been decreed for him. Therefore, he must adhere to the , seek Allah's help, and perform (prayer for guidance). Goodness lies in complying with the Sharia, even if the soul dislikes it.
