Is it valid to supplicate for a private business to replace one's current job, out of ambition, despite being content with the current job, or does this imply dissatisfaction?
Working for others is a legitimate form of lease () and is not considered servitude to other than Allah. Its permissibility is indicated by the texts of the , and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) practiced it.
Supplication to Allah Almighty to ask for a specific legitimate job is not an objection to fate. Rather, supplication is a great means of good that Allah has prescribed for His servants, and persistence in it is one of the acts of worship beloved to Allah. It requires continuity and not giving up.
Along with striving in supplication, one must submit to the command of Allah and be pleased with His decree. Perhaps good lies in what has not been achieved for you, and Allah knows best the interests of His servants, as He says: "But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not."
