The question

Is the threshold of a house considered inauspicious if its former and latter occupants died in it from similar accidents? Has any Prophetic Hadith been reported to this effect, and how can one dispose of the house if this is true?

The answer

Scholars have differed regarding the : "Ill omen is in the house, the woman, and the horse." Some have taken it at its ظاهر (literal meaning), while others have said that ill omen is by the decree of Allah, not by the inherent effect of the thing itself. It is permissible to sell a disliked house, while believing that any harm is from the divine decree of Allah. The reason for selling must be disclosed to avoid the buyer's right to return the item. Jurists have considered ill omen a defect that gives the buyer the option (to return the item).
