Is the wife you marry a matter of divine decree and destiny, or a choice?

Everything in the universe occurs by the decree of Allah. In Sahih (definition) Muslim, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Everything is by measure, even helplessness and shrewdness." However, this does not mean that a person is coerced. Allah inscribed the destinies of all things fifty thousand years before creating the heavens and the earth, due to His knowledge of what was and what will be. He granted humans will and ability to choose and act. Every person does what they wish by choice, not by coercion, and this is understood by every human being and is supported by texts from the Qur'an and Sunnah (definition).
