Belief in divine decree (Qadar (definition)), both good and bad, is a fundamental pillar. Trials are an expiation for sins and a test of the sincerity of one's faith. A believer must be patient with Allah's decree and supplicate, for supplication does not contradict patience; rather, it is a weapon to ward off affliction. However, it is stipulated that the supplication must not be for something impossible, neither religiously nor rationally.
