The answer

Al-Qurtubi mentioned that the saying of Allah the Almighty: (lest your deeds should be rendered fruitless) means so that your deeds are not invalidated by raising your voices above the voice of the Prophet and speaking loudly to him. And His saying: (and do not invalidate your deeds) means your good deeds by sins, major sins, showing off, and seeking reputation. The invalidation of deeds was mentioned in relation to abandoning the Asr prayer, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: (Whoever abandons the Asr prayer, his deed has been invalidated). And Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar mentioned that invalidation is of two types: invalidation by nullification, which is the invalidation of faith by disbelief, and invalidation by outweighing, which is the invalidation of benefiting from good deeds by sins when they outweigh them. Among the nullifiers of deeds is also swearing by Allah concerning Him, for in Muslim, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned that a man said: "By Allah, Allah will not forgive so-and-so," whereupon Allah the Almighty said: (Who is he who swears by Me that I will not forgive so-and-so? Indeed, I have forgiven so-and-so and invalidated your deed).
