Does a Muslim's committing a sin, even a minor one, lead to disbelief (kufr)?

A Muslim is not permitted to agree to a condition that leads to disbelief in Allah, except in a case of dire necessity where there is fear of perishing or losing a limb. In such a situation, it is permissible for him to outwardly agree while his heart remains firm in faith, as Allah Almighty says: "Whoever disbelieves in Allah after his belief—except for one who is forced [to recant] while his heart is secure in faith." However, committing a sin that does not amount to polytheism (shirk (definition)) or denying what is necessarily known in religion does not necessitate disbelief.
