What is the ruling on a person saying to another, "You will follow in my footsteps," after eating or drinking after them, and then claiming that a specific person narrated this (falsely and deceptively)? Does this constitute disbelief by way of mockery? And how does one repent for saying that?

The first phrase's intent is unclear to us, so we cannot rule on it. We have previously discussed divination (At-Tatyur) and its various forms. As for saying "Narrated by so-and-so" in jest, it is not considered mockery of the religion. To learn how to repent from sins, please refer to no. 32521.
