The answer

The sweetness of faith is a spiritual reality that Allah places in the hearts of the righteous. Its meaning is finding pleasure in acts of obedience, enduring hardships for the sake of Allah, and preferring these over worldly matters. A Muslim perceives this sweetness if Allah and His Messenger are dearer to him than anything else, if he loves a person for the sake of Allah, detests disbelief, and is content with Allah as his Lord, Islam as his religion, and Muhammad as his Prophet and Messenger. For a Muslim to taste the flavor of faith, he must observe the obligatory duties and increase in supererogatory acts and obedience. The delight of faith is spiritual and heartfelt, unlike the delight of forbidden things, which is physical and lustful and is followed by pain and loss.
