Ibn Taymiyyah transmitted statements from the Salaf (pious predecessors) condemning Irja' and its danger, among them the saying of Al-Nakha'i: "Their tribulation — meaning the Murji'ah — is more feared for this Ummah than the tribulation of the Azariqah," and the saying of Al-Zuhri: "No innovation has been introduced into Islam that is more harmful to its people than Irja'."
