The answer

Summary:

The monotheistic belief in Allah Almighty with His exalted attributes is a consensus. Allah Almighty is One, having no partner in all the attributes inherent to His essence. It is impermissible to supplicate to Allah Almighty's attributes (supplication to the attribute) because it constitutes polytheism (). It is permissible to seek intercession through Allah Almighty's attributes (supplication by the attribute). The poetic verse attributed to Ibn Hazm, which states, "O Subtleties of Him Whom naught can overwhelm," does not fall under the category of supplication to the attribute or supplication by the attribute. Rather, it is an attachment to Allah's grace and mercy, seeking that He, Glory be to Him, create events out of gentleness and mercy towards His servants, and that He alleviate their distress and reunite them. There is no error or polytheism in this.
