What is the impact of the belief that God has a son on His attributes?

The belief that God has a son is a grave act of disbelief (kufr) and profound error (dalal). Allah has denied this in the Holy Quran. The claim of the Jews and Christians regarding this is a great falsehood, and the heavens and the earth are almost torn asunder by such a statement. Allah Almighty is far removed from taking a son, for everyone in the heavens and on earth are His servants. It is mentioned in a Hadith (definition) Qudsi that Allah considers the statement of the son of Adam, "I have taken a son," as an insult to Him, because He is the One, the Self-Sufficient (As-Samad), who neither begot nor was begotten. This belief necessitates affirming a rival and imperfection for Allah, for a child is taken by one who is in need, and Allah is self-sufficient, in need of nothing. Surah (definition) Al-Ikhlas (definition) clearly demonstrates the impossibility of this rationally, for Allah is One, without peer, and Self-Sufficient (Samad), from whom nothing emerges. Childbirth necessitates the existence of a material from which the child separates, and this is impossible for Allah.
