What is the tribulation (fitna) referred to in the noble verse: "And tribulation is worse than slaughter"? And does it mean not reporting errors, and what are some instances of tribulation?

The "fitnah" (persecution) intended in the verse: "and Al-Fitnah is worse than killing" is polytheism (shirk (definition) bi Allah) and apostasy from faith. This means that the tribulation of a believer in his religion, to the extent that he becomes a polytheist after having embraced Islam, is more severe and harmful to him than being killed while remaining steadfast in his religion. It does not mean concealing a Muslim's error, even though concealing it is praiseworthy and legally encouraged, unless it leads to the loss of another person's right.
