Who are the four individuals from whom the Messenger commanded us to take the Qur’an when he said, "Take the Qur’an from four"? And what is the Surah about which the Messenger said, "A Surah has been revealed to me tonight that is more beloved to me than anything upon which the sun has risen"? And is there a Hadith that clarifies the Messenger's preference for the Qur’an over the scriptures of other prophets? And who was the first to compile the seven Qira'at (readings) in one book?

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded that the Quran be taken from four: Ibn Mas'ud, Ubayy ibn Ka'b, Mu'adh ibn Jabal, and Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhayfah. The Surah (definition) that was revealed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and was dearer to him than anything upon which the sun rose, is Surat al-Fath. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was favored over all Messengers by the Quran, and his miracle is the Noble Quran, which he received as revelation. Therefore, he hopes to have the most followers on the Day of Resurrection. The first to compile the seven readings in one book was Ibn Mujahid.
