The answer

Obeying parents is obligatory in matters that benefit them and do not harm the child. They do not have the right to compel him to wear a specific type of clothing or eat a particular food. The mother's displeasure due to the son's refusal to comply with her wish is not considered disobedience (uquq), but harming her with words or actions is uquq, from which one must repent and apologize. One should strive for the mother's satisfaction and be humble towards her, preferring her wish unless it causes harm to the son. Parents are advised not to be arbitrary with their children and to strive for understanding and persuasion.
