Is it permissible to name a child "Lahdan," knowing that the name is common and the uncle's name is "Lahdan"?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
There is no objection to naming a child "Lahdan"; names are often spontaneous and not subject to strict reasoning, nor is it required for a name to perfectly match the meaning of the named. There is nothing in the name "Lahdan" that prohibits its use. It is one of the ancient Arabic names. "Lahdan" was mentioned as the name of the freed slave of the Imam and scholar Ma'mar ibn Rashid.
