The answer

It is permissible for a father to revoke a gift he gave to his child, according to the majority of scholars, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "It is not permissible for a man to give a gift and then take it back, except for a father in what he gives to his child." The mother is like the father in this ruling, according to the majority, if the child is an adult. Her revocation is even more emphasized if she intends to be just among her children, because equality among children is commanded. The majority of scholars are of the opinion that there should be equality between sons and daughters in gifting, based on his (peace be upon him) saying: "Be fair among your children in gifting, and if I were to favor anyone, I would have favored women."
