The answer

The fundamental principle regarding names is permissibility unless they contain a legal impediment. Naming someone Fawzi is permissible because fawz (success/triumph) signifies salvation and the attainment of good. It is a name of optimism, not self-praise. Some names, like "Yasar" (Ease/Affluence) and "Rabah" (Profit), are disliked due to the fear of ill omen when asked about them and their non-realization. However, the dislike here is one of tanzih (disapprobation) rather than tahrim (prohibition). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, approved names that he had not previously forbidden, and he did not compel the alteration of the name "Hazan" (Sorrow) to "Sahl" (Ease), which indicates that the matter is optional, not obligatory.
