Is it permissible to name a newborn Tawab?

"Tawwāb" is a homonym that is applied to Allah Almighty, meaning "the One who accepts repentance frequently from His servants," and to a created being, meaning "one who frequently returns to Allah Almighty and repents to Him after committing a sin." It is stated in Lisān al-ʿArab: "A man who is 'tawwāb' is one who repents to Allah. And Allah is 'Tawwāb' in that He accepts the repentance of His servant." And in the Hadith (definition): "And the best of those who err are the frequent repenters (al-tawwābūn)." Therefore, there is no objection to naming a child "Tawwāb," and the permissibility is confirmed if the name is not prefixed with "al-" (the definite article).
