What is the ruling on naming a male newborn "Bassam," is it considered a good name, and was this name mentioned among the Pious Predecessors?

The names most beloved to Allah have been previously explained in prior fatwas. There is no objection to naming with "Bassam," as it is one of the good names, meaning "one who smiles a lot." It was reported in descriptions of the Prophet, peace be upon him, that most of his laughter was a smile. A group of the Salaf were named with it, among them: Bassam al-Sayrafi, Bassam bin Yazid, and Bassam bin Ahmad.
