The answer

Prayer is the pillar of faith and the second pillar of Islam after the two declarations of faith. It is the first thing a servant will be held accountable for on the Day of Judgment. Whoever preserves it will succeed and be saved, and whoever neglects it will fail and lose. Allah has warned those who are negligent in prayer by saying: ﴿So woe to those who pray [But] who are heedless of their prayer﴾ [Al-Ma'un: 4-5], and His saying: ﴿But there came after them successors who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil.﴾ [Maryam: 59]. It is obligatory for a Muslim to preserve prayer and learn its rulings, for seeking knowledge is an obligation. Whoever realizes that their prayer is invalid due to a defect, must make it up. As for one who dies having been negligent in their prayers, their matter is with Allah Almighty.
