Islam encourages marriage, as it is a tradition of the Prophets. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, urged it and made it part of his Sunnah (definition). To acquire a righteous wife, who is a treasure, one must: rely on Allah, intend chastity through marriage, seek a woman of faith and good character, consult trustworthy people, perform istikhara (prayer for guidance), and ask people of righteousness. Islam has warned against corresponding with foreign women due to the temptation involved.
