What is the reason for prohibiting gold and wearing silk for men? And what are the forbidden, permissible, and disliked things in Sharia?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
A man may wear whatever he wishes, provided he avoids wearing gold and silk, and his attire does not involve imitation of women or disbelievers, and he avoids extravagance and arrogance. Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, said: "Eat what you wish and wear what you wish, as long as two things do not befall you: extravagance and arrogance."
