The question

Is it impermissible for a university student to print an additional 200 pages—by exploiting a loophole in the university's printing system—given that the university allocates only 50 pages per student, and there is significant wastage of printing paper at the university?

The answer

The ruling on this matter depends on the permission of the responsible authority. If the method of computer-based photography does not involve deception or exceeding the permitted limit for the student's use of the device, then there is no harm in it. However, if it involves deception or transgression, then it is a forbidden aggression. The fact that some papers are damaged does not permit exceeding the permission, because the ink and devices used have value and may be affected by use. The conditions of the responsible authority must be observed, and one must adhere to what it has permitted. Customary permission suffices in place of explicit permission.
