What is the ruling on photography, and does the ruling on sculpted images differ from that of photographs, or does a full image differ from photographing only the face and chest?

Photography is Islamically reprehensible, and it includes every living creature with a soul, whether the image is embodied or not embodied, or taken by machine or by pigments. And whoever claims that the prohibition is specific to embodied images has erred, for the hadiths are general and do not differentiate between one type of image and another. However, if the image is incomplete, such as pictures of the face, head, and chest without the rest of the body, many jurists have permitted it, especially when there is a need. And the Muslim must fear Allah and avoid what He has forbidden.
