Are Oriental and romantic songs forbidden or permissible?
Singing accompanied by music is forbidden, according to evidence from the Qur'an, the , and the sayings of the early Muslims. There is no distinction in this ruling between different types of singing; love songs are even more strictly forbidden. Allah has replaced this for the Muslim with a better form of listening, one that brings peace to the heart and increases faith, which is listening to His verses. Allah Almighty says: "Indeed, the believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts tremble, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely Those who establish prayer and spend from what We have provided them Those are the true believers. For them are degrees [of honor] with their Lord and forgiveness and noble provision." [Al-Anfal: 2-4].
