Does buying a receiver to watch matches, knowing that my family uses it to watch movies, series, and songs, make me sinful and accrue sins upon me? And what should I do about that?

The answer

Most of what is broadcast through modern devices is not free from Shariah prohibitions, such as deviant ideas, forbidden acts, prohibited music, and images of 'awrah (private parts). Those who own these devices must be careful not to use them for forbidden purposes. They should neither use them themselves nor allow others to use them, otherwise they would be sinful. The original safety lies in not owning them. For those who are compelled to own them, they must take the necessary measures to prevent their use in forbidden matters, such as deleting prohibited channels, encrypting the device, and placing it in a public area. And whoever is unable to do so, then they must dispose of them.
