The answer

If music passes by you without you intentionally listening to it, there is no sin upon you. However, if you incline towards the sound, take pleasure in it, and willingly continue listening, you may incur sin. The sin is removed if you detest the evil and denounce it with your tongue, if you are able, or with your heart, which is the lowest degree of denunciation. You should cover your ears when such a sound passes by, but your failure to do so does not entail sin unless you intended to listen and take pleasure. Sense the ugliness of music accompanied by musical instruments so that your desire to listen to it or take pleasure in it may vanish.
