Is working as a telecommunications engineer to operate and maintain electronic devices that broadcast channels and radio stations for the purpose of serving national goals, without relation to the nature of the programs, considered unlawful?
Satellite channels are divided into three categories: 1. Islamic channels: It is permissible to work in them, and in fact, one is rewarded for doing so if they intend by it to guide people, provided that they propagate the creed of Ahlus- wal-Jama'ah and are free from the appearance of women, music, and singing. 2. Degenerate channels (movies, songs, corrupting programs): It is forbidden to work in them in any capacity, because that is considered aiding in sin and transgression. 3. News channels: They are permissible in principle, but working in them is often not free from sin due to the violations they include, such as unveiled female presenters, music, promotion of movies, sports news that display awrahs, and hosting atheists. It is more fitting for a Muslim to avoid working in them to safeguard their religion and their earnings.
This detailed explanation applies to both audio and visual channels. Whoever aids in spreading misguidance bears the burdens of those who follow them. And whoever gives up something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate them with something better.
