The question

Is someone who writes a request for a usurious loan to his manager, when it was possible for him to maneuver to avoid writing it, included among those cursed concerning usury? And is his obedience to the manager in this matter considered an apostatizing act of shirk (polytheism), knowing that he does not believe in the obligation to obey him in disobedience to Allah? And what is the ruling on uttering the two testimonies (Shahadatayn) with the intention of entering Islam when one suspects having apostatized from it?

The answer

It is not permissible to seek a usurious loan due to its nature of cooperating in sin. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who feeds it, its scribe, and its two witnesses. Whoever does so falls into sin, but he does not apostatize from the fold of Islam. He must offer sincere repentance, frequently seek forgiveness, and perform righteous deeds. One must not pay attention to the whispers of Satan concerning disbelief (kufr) and polytheism (), but rather turn to Allah and cut off these whispers by occupying oneself with other matters.
