The answer

Testifying to something of which the witness has no knowledge is impermissible, and it is a false and forbidden testimony; this is based on the Almighty's saying: "Except for those who testify to the truth, and they know," and His saying: "And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge."

Whoever has borne false witness must repent to Allah by feeling remorse, abandoning the sin, and resolving not to return to it. If the testimony resulted in harm to someone, it is obligatory to retract the testimony, deny oneself, and seek forgiveness from the injured party. However, if the testimony had no effect and did not result in harm, then repentance between the servant and his Lord suffices.
