The question

If there is little time left for the prayer and I am in a cemetery, should I pray there? And how do I reconcile the prohibition of praying in a cemetery with the prayer of the Prophet and his companions over the female servant who died at night? And when I face the Qiblah, the graves will be in front of me.

The answer

Prayer in a graveyard is forbidden, with the sole exception of the funeral prayer. The funeral prayer is permissible in a graveyard because the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed it there. Other prayers, whether obligatory or supererogatory, are not valid in old or new graveyards, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) prohibition against taking graves as places of worship.
