Is it permissible for a woman to go out to attend funerals, whether for relatives or for her mother? And is it permissible for women to visit graves later?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
It is disliked for a woman to follow a funeral procession according to the majority of scholars, and it is forbidden if her going out leads to mixing (with men). As for women visiting graves, the preponderant opinion is that it is permissible if it is for a legitimate purpose, such as reflection or supplicating for the dead. However, seeking intercession through the dwellers of graves is not permissible.
