What is the ruling on a mother preventing her adult daughter from wearing the hijab, justifying it by university education in Tunisia, and explicitly expressing her hatred for those who pray and for women who wear the hijab, describing herself as a "Jew with a hat"? A woman is considered an apostate and must separate from her Muslim husband if she declares herself Jewish and expresses hatred for those who pray and wear hijab (definition). If she dies in this state, no funeral prayer (salat al-janazah (definition)) should be offered for her, nor should supplications (du'a) be made for her, unless she was ignorant that her statement constituted disbelief (kufr). In the latter case, she should not be treated as a disbeliever until the proof (hujjah) has been established against her. Her daughter must not obey her if she instructs her to remove her hijab. It is recommended to advise the woman and warn her of the consequences.
