Is it permissible to offer condolences to people in marquees set up for this purpose, even with an inner disapproval of some practices within them, due to the inability to offer condolences in cemeteries or other places, and to avoid gossip and insinuation, and because society views these marquees as necessary due to cramped homes, and to avoid being labeled as belonging to a specific religious group for not attending?

The imams have agreed that setting up mourning tents (saraqdat) is reprehensible (makruh (definition)). The lowest degree of reprehensibility is designated as makruh or 'contrary to what is better' (khilaf (definition) al-awla) if it does not involve any forbidden act (munkar). However, if it does involve a forbidden act, such as showing off (mubahat) or spending money from an orphan's estate on it, then it is prohibited (muharramah). It is permissible to enter them for condolence if they do not involve forbidden matters and if one cannot offer condolences elsewhere; otherwise, it is not permissible.
