Can beneficial faith in the afterlife coexist with disbelief in the Last Day, Paradise, and Hellfire?
Source: FtawySummarized from the full answer at Ftawy · imported Sep 2, 2026
Belief in the Last Day and what follows from it, namely belief in Paradise and Hell, is one of the six pillars of faith. Whoever disbelieves in one of these pillars is an infidel (kafir) with Allah and will abide eternally in Hellfire. The Holy Quran and the Prophetic emphasize the importance of belief in the Last Day, for whoever does not believe in it has not believed in Allah. Righteous deeds will not benefit disbelievers in the Hereafter because they did not believe in the resurrection and the Last Day. Whoever doubts the Hereafter is a disbeliever until he believes in it.
