How is the restriction of entry into Paradise to Muslims in the prophetic hadith reconciled with what has been stated by scholars – such as Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim – regarding the testing of the adult, sane polytheists of the Ahl al-Fatra (People of the Interval), and the entry into Paradise of those among them who obey?

There is no contradiction between the Hadith (definition) "None shall enter Paradise except a Muslim soul" and the statement of Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah that mature people of the Fatrah (those who lived in periods between prophets and did not receive a divine message) will enter Paradise after being tested, because whoever passes the test among them becomes a Muslim and enters Paradise, thus the Hadith applies to them. Ibn Taymiyyah clarified that "whoever obeys at that time will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys will enter Hell." He also affirmed that the principle is "that none enters Paradise except a believer," and that those who did not receive the message will have messengers sent to them in the Hereafter; the believer will be granted bliss, and the disbeliever will be punished.
