The answer

Disobedient monotheists deserve a painful punishment, as indicated by texts from the Qur’an and , including His (Allah's) saying: "But whoever transgresses after that, then for him is a painful torment," and "So give them tidings of a painful punishment," and "They will [enter and] burn in a blazing fire."

It is established in Muslim that disobedient monotheists, after being punished for the period Allah Almighty wills, will be subjected to a real death, whereby all sensation departs from them. They will then be confined in the Fire without sensation, after which they will be taken out of it and admitted into Paradise.

Imam An-Nawawi clarified that Allah Almighty will subject sinful believers to a real death after their punishment. They will then be brought out of the Fire dead, like charcoal, to be resurrected by the rivers of Paradise and enter their abodes.
