Is it obligatory to introduce water into the ear during ghusl, and is it obligatory to trace the cartilages and folds of the ear therein, given that water entering the ear causes harm?

If it is possible to wash what must be washed from the ears without harm, then it is obligatory. If harm would occur, but wiping is possible, then that is obligatory. If neither wiping nor washing is possible, then should be performed for them.
