The obligation to cover a woman's face and hands is a matter of scholarly disagreement, and it is permissible to follow the scholars who permit uncovering the face and hands. However, the issued is that it is obligatory, especially when there is a fear of fitna (temptation). The niqab (face veil) is obligatory for a woman who fears that men might be tempted by her, especially if she is beautiful. Nevertheless, the reward for good deeds is not diminished by not wearing the niqab if the woman is following a valid opinion among the sayings of the people of knowledge.
