Does a triple divorce take effect if the husband threatens to divorce his wife should their expelled son enter the home?

"What the man uttered falls under the category of a conditional triple divorce. If the child enters the house, the divorce takes effect according to the majority of jurists. Ibn Taymiyyah, however, was of the opinion that it does not take effect if the husband did not intend divorce, and an expiation for a broken oath (kaffarat yamin) becomes due.

As for the triple divorce, it counts as three according to the majority of jurists, while Ibn Taymiyyah held that it counts as one. The view of the majority is what we act upon.

Assaulting the wife or children by striking them is impermissible. Disciplinary striking has specific legal controls.

It is advised to supplicate for the man with goodness, to counsel him kindly, to instill in him the fear of Allah Almighty, and to remind him that injustice will be darknesses on the Day of Resurrection."
