What is the ruling regarding a man who swore to divorce his wife if she raised her voice, intending to intimidate and discipline her, and then she raised her voice 15 days later, having forgotten his oath, knowing that they live together as expatriates?

If the one swearing the oath was extremely angry at the time of the oath and did not know what he was saying, then nothing is binding on him. However, if he knew what he was saying and the wife raised her voice, forgetting the oath, then the divorce is effective according to the majority of scholars. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah disagreed, making expiation for an oath obligatory if he did not intend divorce but rather a threat.
