Is it permissible to give a gift to a teacher, with the initial intention from the students to help with exams, then the intention changed to honoring him for his efforts?

It was previously clarified that it is permissible for a student to give a gift to a teacher, unless it is associated with an ill intention, such as favoritism. However, if the teacher is likely to incline towards favoritism because of the gift, then it is not permissible to give it to him, even if the intention is to reward him. The gift can be postponed until the end of the academic year.
