What is the ruling on perfuming a deceased woman after washing her?

It is sunnah to perfume a deceased woman just as a man is perfumed. This is supported by the hadith of Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) regarding the washing of the Prophet's daughter (peace be upon him), where camphor was used in the last wash. It is also supported by the will of Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her), who requested that her clothes be fumigated and that she be embalmed. The wisdom behind perfuming the deceased is to honor them, preserve them, and cover any unpleasant odor. Additionally, camphor has the property of drying and cooling the body, repelling insects, and delaying decomposition. The reason for prohibiting women from using perfume during their lifetime ceases to exist after their death, hence it is recommended to perfume her, just as it is recommended to perfume a man.
