What is the ruling on insulting a dead disbeliever?

It is permissible to curse a deceased disbeliever unless that entails harm to a Muslim descendant of his, in which case cursing is then prohibited. This ruling does not apply to a disbeliever under a covenant, because Islamic law has protected his honor, blood, and property, and it is forbidden to wrong or harm him.
