It is not permissible to delay returning ill-gotten wealth to fulfill a need, for among the conditions of a sound repentance are abandoning the forbidden and returning rights to their owners. Ill-gotten wealth corrupts what is lawful and removes its blessings. One can substitute it with a good loan or seek permission from the owners of the wealth. One must hasten to repent and not procrastinate.
