What is the ruling on a man wearing a necklace with the لفظ الجلالة (the majestic word for God, i.e., Allah) on it around his neck?

It is not permissible for a man to imitate women in their clothing and adornment. Wearing chains falls under women's adornment, therefore, it is not permissible for a man to wear them. There is no harm for a woman in wearing something upon which the name of Allah is inscribed, provided she protects it from disrespect.
