His father is capable of working but does not work, and his brother works but spends only on himself. He gives his entire salary to his father and deprives himself of everything, and he wants to get married but does not have the money. He asks if his actions are correct in sacrificing himself, his health, and his money for his family.

"Allah has commanded us to be kind to parents and has made that one of the greatest obligations after belief in Allah. Part of being kind to them is spending on them when they are in need. It is stipulated for the obligation of spending that the son finds what he spends on his father in excess of what he needs himself. If your parents are in need of spending, then spending on them is obligatory upon you and your siblings. If your siblings are unable or do not spend, then you must spend according to your ability. If you are in need of marriage, you can save something from your salary after giving your parents what suffices for their basic needs. The father being able to work and not working is wrong, but that does not prevent dutifulness towards him and spending on him. The Muslim should intend the face of Allah with what he spends on his family, and his striving to spend on them will not be lost, but it is a reason for blessing in livelihood and lifespan.
