What is the reason for my suffering from menstrual cycle disturbances, abdominal pain, discharge, excessive nervousness, my saying to myself: "I am an infidel," wishing for death, and laziness in prayer, along with my seeing dreams as if someone is sleeping with me during 'Umrah, and my husband's refusal to go to a shaykh?

The nocturnal emission (احتلام) that occurred in Mecca could be natural or from Satan, and it does not affect the acceptance of the 'Umrah. The nocturnal emission experienced by some of the female Companions indicates its naturalness. Menstrual cycle disturbances might be due to an organic illness, and it is necessary to distinguish between menstruation (hayd) and irregular bleeding (istihadah). It is advisable to discard the idea of being touched by a jinn (مس), and to treat nervousness with seeking refuge in Allah, performing ablution, and ruqyah (exorcism). It is forbidden to supplicate against oneself or to wish for death. One must seek forgiveness and be cautious of describing oneself as an unbeliever.
